CALL TO ACTION: 5 Minute COVID-19 Impact Survey
The rapidly evolving situation concerning the spread of COVID-19 and the extraordinary measures being taken in the interest of public health will affect everyone in the coming weeks and months. Many arts organizations and individual artists across the state have had to take steps to slow the progression of the coronavirus and comply with recommendations made by public officials that will have a negative impact on their financial well-being.
We are all going to need to work together in order to weather the financial challenges on the horizon, but first we need to know what we are up against. It is crucial that you take 5 minutes to complete this survey about the financial impact COVID-19 will have on your arts organization or on you as an individual artist. Arts North Carolina will work with Americans for the Arts and the North Carolina Arts Council to be sure that this data is available for advocacy at the federal, state, and local level.
Right now our elected officials are focused on the health and safety of the population. They need to put out this fire out before they assess the damage. We will all need to speak to our leaders across all levels of government about the impact of the pandemic and how we will recover. Now is the time to prepare for those conversations by collecting the information we will need to make our case.
Other organizations may ask you for similar information and we encourage you to respond to those as well. Arts NC is using the American for the Arts COVID-19 Arts Sector Financial Impact Survey, so that data can be entered in one location and used across multiple levels of government. You can retake the survey to update your changing impact in the coming weeks, so please enter the information you have TODAY. The sooner we know what the need is, the sooner we can work for a solution.
Arts North Carolina has also launched a COVID-19 Resources Page on our website. We will work to keep this page current with links to information you need both during and after this public health emergency.
We still do not know what the short and long term implications of this pandemic will be, though while we all will hope for the best, the most prudent thing to do right now is to plan for the worst. The one thing that we know for certain, is that whatever challenges we face in the future, we will be stronger if we face them together.
