Strike up the Band & Celebrate Arts in Education!

As we finish up the week, Arts NC wants to thank all educators, especially those that teach the arts. We also want to thank our supporters and readers for their passion for the arts. Join us in this celebration by watching this short video of featured educators and students for 2023! All of our featured educators and students were nominated to be highlighted in our celebration campaign through one of the NC Arts Education Leadership Coalition (AELC) partner organizations. To learn more about this coalition, visit artsednc.org.

Also featured are the Mighty Marching Bucks or Hoke County High School, who made a special visit to the NC General Assembly on Tuesday, September 12, to perform on Halifax Mall. NC Superintendent, Catherine Truitt presented Band Director DeVon Pickett and the rest of the Mighty Marching Bucks, with a special plaque recognizing the occasion. NC Rep. Jeffery Elmore, NCMEA Executive Director Susan Heiserman, NCMEA President Jonathan Hamiel and Arts NC Executive Director, Nate McGaha were also on hand in support of the arts. Thank you to the Mighty Marching Bucks. We appreciate their time, dedication and artistry.
