Call to Action: Thank the NCGA for Arts Funding and Policy

Thank the NCGA for Arts Funding and Policy

Now is the time to thank your North Carolina General Assembly representatives for the historic investment made in the arts this year. Not only did they increase recurring funding by $2.5 million for the NC Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Program grants (which has grown 125% in the last two budgets) and invested $1.5 million in the A+ Schools of North Carolina program, but they also passed the Arts Proficiency High School Diploma Endorsement into law, which will encourage more students to participate in the arts.

Rest assured, Arts NC will remind them that we are one North Carolina and that our creative community stands together for equitable access to the arts in all 100 counties. The exclusion of certain counties from the additional Grassroots Arts Program funding by using shifting annual metrics such as Tier economic rankings and population undermines the very consistency and stability these funds are meant to create.

Please take two minutes to write to your own representatives in the NC Senate and NC House of Representatives to thank them for their support of arts and arts education.
