Call to Action: Arts Funds for All 100 Counties & A+ Schools

Both the NC Senate and the NC House of Representatives have passed their proposals for the FY24-FY25 Biennium State Budget, and the NC House has just selected representatives to serve on a conference committee, as will the NC Senate soon, to work out the differences between the two proposals and make other changes and additions to the budget. This final version is very likely to be passed in both chambers before the end of June and sent to Governor Cooper for his signature.

It is crucial that you write to your representatives now, especially if they serve on the conference committee working on the budget, and be sure that they remember to:

Include all 100 counties in new Grassroots Arts Program funding.
Allocate $3.5M more recurring funds for NC Arts Council grants.
Invest $1.5M in A+ Schools of NC to receive $2.5M in private funds.
Fund all arts grant programs, not just Grassroots Arts Program grants.

Now is the time to take two minutes to write your NC General Assembly representatives and tell them these allocations are crucial to build and sustain local communities and economies.
