NC Arts in Education Week is September 10-16, 2023!
Now that our students are back to school, it is time to GET READY because September 10th through 16th is North Carolina Arts in Education Week! This is our opportunity as a state to advocate and celebrate the vital role the arts play in our schools.
Arts NC continues to advance arts education policy. This year we worked with legislators on bills to create an Arts Proficiency High School Diploma Endorsement and an arts requirement for all K-5 public school students to receive instruction in both Music and Visual Arts by a licensed educator.
Now is the perfect time to start working on an Arts ARE Education Proclamation in your school district using our step-by-step toolkit. You can also write an Op-Ed about the value of arts education and send it your local paper (and if they do not print it; post it as a blog or on social media). This is also the perfect time to engage with an elected official, principal, or educator (or ANYONE) about Comprehensive Arts Education in your community. You can use the NC Arts Education Data Project or the Arts Education Navigator to help make your case.
